We understand that you may have questions about creating your tribute, sending photographs, choosing music and receiving the finished video. We’ve answered some of the most common questions below, but if there’s anything else you’d like to know, please get in touch - we’ll be happy to help.

How can I provide old photos if I don't have digital copies?
You have a few options! You can scan them yourself using a home scanner—aim for at least 300 DPI. If you don't have a scanner, you can take a photo of each old picture using your phone. Just ensure good lighting, avoid reflections, and take the shot straight-on. If you'd rather not do this yourself, I offer professional scanning services for your photos.

What if I send you my original physical photos?
If you mail original photos, it's at your own risk. I recommend using recorded delivery. When I return them, I’ll also use tracked delivery, but any postal risk remains with you. If I scan your photos, you’ll receive them both in the montage and the individual scanned JPEGs as a free bonus.

What format will the final video be?
Your final tribute will be delivered in H.264 format, landscape Full HD, which is the most universal and widely supported video format. It should play seamlessly on any modern device—computers, tablets, smartphones, and smart TVs.

Can I make changes to the video after I see it?
Absolutely! I provide a preview before final delivery. You can request up to two rounds of changes as part of the core package. If more changes are needed, additional revisions can be arranged as an add-on.

What if I need the tribute urgently?
The standard turnaround is about two weeks, but if you need it sooner, I offer priority options like 5-day or 48-hour service at an additional cost.

How do I receive my final video?
Your completed tribute will be delivered via a secure download link. If you prefer, I can also provide it on a video album or USB drive as an add-on.

Can I keep my tribute online for private viewing?
Yes! I offer a private video link (via Vimeo) so you can easily share it with family and friends. This link will remain available long-term.

Can I use commercial music in my tribute?
I offer royalty-free music as standard, but if you'd like a specific commercial song, I can look into licensing it.

What if I want to add more photos or video clips?
No problem! You can add extra photos or video clips as add-ons. Just let me know how many you’d like to include and we’ll make sure they fit seamlessly into your tribute.

What if I lose my video file?
I always recommend downloading and backing up your final video. However, if you lose it, get in touch! I can offer to store your tribute long-term as an add-on, so we can provide a backup if needed.

Can multiple family members give input separately?
To ensure everything stays clear and consistent, I ask that you appoint one person as the main point of contact. If multiple family members have input, please coordinate within your family first, and then pass the final agreed requests through your chosen contact person. This helps me avoid conflicting instructions and ensures your tribute comes together smoothly.

Will you deliver the tribute directly to the chapel or funeral venue?
It’s the responsibility of the person ordering the tribute to provide the final video to the chapel, crematorium, or funeral director. Once your tribute is ready, I’ll supply the final file and you can forward it to the venue or contact as needed. If you need guidance, I’m happy to help!

What if the tribute video doesn't play at the chapel or crematorium?
The tribute is provided in a universal H.264 format, which should play on any standard system used by chapels or crematoriums. However, if any technical issues arise, please contact me directly. I’ll be happy to offer guidance and ensure the file is compatible for the venue. It’s always a good idea to confirm with the venue in advance and do a test if possible, but I'm here to help if any last-minute concerns come up.

Can I upload my tribute video to social media or YouTube?
If your tribute uses royalty-free music, you are welcome to upload it to social platforms. However, if you have chosen a commercial song, it’s advisable not to upload it. Commercial tracks often come with strict licensing that covers personal use but not public sharing. Posting videos with commercial music can lead to the audio being muted, the video taken down, or copyright strikes. However, if you choose our private Vimeo link option, you won’t face any copyright issues there, as it remains a private viewing experience.

Do you work with families outside the UK?
Yes! Although I’m based in the UK, I’m happy to work with families from anywhere in the world. Sending the finished tribute digitally is straightforward, and you’ll receive your video via a secure download link. If you choose physical video albums, I can ship them internationally, but additional postage costs may apply depending on the destination. We’ll confirm all details before finalizing.

Can I order more video albums later on?
Yes, additional video albums can be ordered at a later date. For a one-off archive fee of £25, we’ll keep a secure backup of your finished tribute, making it easier to produce additional copies whenever you need them.

Do you keep copies of my photos and videos after the project is finished?
I retain the project files, including photos and videos, for three weeks after delivering your final tribute. After that period, all accompanying files are securely deleted. However, if you'd like me to keep a backup of the finished video for future needs (like ordering more video albums), as mentioned above, I offer a backup service for £25, retaining the final video long-term.

Who is responsible for checking names, dates and spelling?

All captions, names, dates and titles will be created using the wording you provide. We’ll flag any obvious errors we notice, but you are responsible for checking that all supplied information is accurate.

Please review every caption and title carefully when you receive your preview. Made of Memories cannot accept responsibility for mistakes originating in the wording supplied by you, particularly once the final video or a personalised video album has been approved and produced.

What’s the difference between royalty-free music and commercial music?

Royalty-free music is specially licensed music that can be used without additional costs for online or personal use. I have a curated collection of 10 beautiful tracks for you to choose from, ensuring your tribute can be shared easily.

Commercial music, on the other hand, refers to songs from well-known artists - the ones you might hear on CDs, streaming platforms, or the radio. These songs require individual licensing for use in videos. While we can license commercial music, it’s a more complex process and will involve additional costs and restrictions.

Why is it important to properly license the music used in my tribute?

Properly clearing music is crucial to protect both you and your tribute. Some companies ignore licensing requirements, which can lead to serious issues. In extreme cases, if a company is caught using unlicensed commercial music, they may face legal action, fines, or be prevented from delivering the final video -leaving families without their cherished tribute.

We take this seriously and ensure that all music—whether royalty-free or commercial—is properly licensed through appropriate channels. That way, you can be confident your tribute is legally safe and can be enjoyed without any risk of copyright issues.
